The First Summit of the Youth Returnees of Fujian, China, has taken place on Sunday the 31st January, 2016. The summit was organized by Fujian Youth Returnees Association, under the instructions of: the Human Resource Office of the Organization Department of CPC Fujian Committee, the Organization Department of CYL Fujian Committee, and Fujian Youth Union.
The president of FJTMA attended the summit, and the Chief Communications Officer, Mengting Li, was invited as the opening and main speaker at the Public Good Forum of the summit. She has addressed her view on the subject “Public Good and Social Awareness”. Her full speech has been published in Chinese and in English.
The First Summit of the Youth Returnees of Fujian China is so far the largest event of the kind in Fujian province. Over 300 returnee representatives across different sectors and industries were present, and more than 100 media including TV channels and other national and regional media have reported on the summit.
The invited leaders at the summit include: the Standing Committee member of National People’s Congress, former Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, Qiang Lim; Secretary of the Organization Department of CYL Fujian Committee, Minghua Ho; Director of the Oversea Students Center, Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resource and Social Security, Chaohui Young; Secretary of Fujian Oversea Students Association, An Chen. The regional representatives of some central media have also attended the summit.
Fujian, the Chinese province on the south-east coast closest to Taiwan, is encountering its crucial moment of development in the history: establishing the Pilot Free Trade Zones, intersecting two national strategies on building the Core Area of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road , establishing the provincial new district approved by the State Department, a new round of regional development stepping into sight of the public both domestically and internationally. Multiple factors have formed the need of high ability support greater than ever.
According to the statistics, since 2012, there has been a total amount of 60,000 returnees coming to Fujian for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, with each year 15,000 to 20,000, among which mostly have acquired masters or degrees above.
In such context, and under the theme of “Vision the Public Good and Embrace the Startup Dream”, the summit has set its agenda around two main topics: Entrepreneurship Forum and Public Good Forum, followed by the discussion on the association’s work and perspectives. Focusing on the new trend, experience and results, the summit looked into the development opportunities for the youth returnees. The attendees have expressed their thoughts and concerns, exchanged their opinions and experience, demonstrated their vision as high ability young professionals.
The summit has successfully made itself a great platform to bring together the young returnees in Fujian, strengthened the network of the talent, and provided a direction for their development. It will continue to be the channel that provides source for the oversea youth, public and private sectors, in the international development arena.
